Same chap as the previous image but his courting colours had toned down, tried a 2x converter here. Will post one more image tomorrow.

Hi Apana,
That is a great close up you got. It is sharp and the details are nice. Looking forward to see the other photographs..

nice shot. the narrow aperture (ie high f number) has covered most of the face... good shot... i like the angle in this one better :)

Great close up at the 1000mm focal length! But, at that focal length, even f/8 wasn't enough to get the head completely in focus, you could have tried using f/16 or higher.
Also, I'm no herp expert, but I think this is a Rock Agama and not Forest Calotes. Rock Agamas are one of my favorite lizards and they are one of the reasons why I love going to Bangalore!
Cheers,
Aditya

Hi Aditya,
I based my ID on JC Daniel's The Book of Indian Reptiles. There is no image there for the Peninsular Rock Agama, but a Google image search shows a very different lizard from the one pictured here.

The Google results might not be reliable. If you have a facebook account, you can check out this image of Forest Calotes: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...3711&comments=

My book of indian reptiles (jc daniel) does have images of both the lizards in question, but hey, I cant see any difference! Even descriptions are similar, except that the calotes is mainly arboreal...
