Chital Stag
Whereas a lot of my other shots on my trip in 2005 were taken as grabs in Mudumalai whenever I could persuade my driver to stop, this one was taken on safari in Nagarhole in half decent light.
It was part of a series shot with the camera's motor drive on. I like the hint of backlight on the antlers, which helps them to stand out from the confused background.
Nikon D70
Tamron (24-300?) lens at 300mm
Aperture Priority
Aperture: f6.7
Shutter Speed: 1/60th (leaning on the jeep rail for support)
Exposure compensation: -0.3
ISO: Not recorded, probably 200

The backlight on the antlers looks good. Toning down the whites on the stag might enhance the image. Wondering whether a wider aperture would have worked better here.

The backlit antlers do make it stand out. The vertical compositon looks good. The habitat is nice. Thanks for sharing.

Good shot. Velvet antlers adding beauty to it.

The light looks better. Good set of antlers. I agree that the vertical composition is better here than a horizontal.
