I was trying for some tight portraits of this Egyptian Vulture Neophron percnopterus
Canon EOS 1D Mark II, Canon EF 400mm F2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII, ISO 400, f8, 1/250, full frame image.
Look forward to your comments and critiques.
A paper in Nature journal describes that the Egyptian vultures engage in Coprophagy (eating faeces) of ungulate faeces. It says that the brightly ornamental head is coloured yellow by carotenoid pigments, and its practice of feeding on faeces. The details of the paper is (Coprophagy: An unusual source of essential carotenoidsJ. J. Negro1, J. M. Grande1, J. L. Tella1, J. Garrido2, D. Hornero2, J. A. Donázar1, J. A. Sanchez-Zapata3, J. R. My favourite kinda raptor :D
The background is nicely diffused and clean... The bird looks great... A small boost of contrast n saturation would add more I feel.

Lovely shot, great compo. Wondering whether a slight crop from the bottom, to avoid the hint of the bird's thigh might help...
