Crab and the city
ID: Specific ID of crab appreciated
Came across this beauty during the latest shorewalk with #marinelifeofmumbai @ Haji ali. The beauty, though cooperative at times, kept us on the toes in the shallow yet razor sharp rocky patch of the Haji ali shores. I wanted to capture the essence of the location and the close proximity of these beauties to the city and the famous landmark. So tried out this frame, using the wide angle lens, with the urban skyline and the Haji Ali mosque fitting in the background with the slithery beauty in the focus.

Nice I liked the composition. A perfect image to show presence of wildlife near cities. First I felt there was some smoke coming in the background, then realised it is a cloud :). Looks like a fiddler crab, not sure. Experts please help with the id. Thanks for sharing.

Nice view. It shows the city background well. Wish you could have used an even narrow aperture for more depth of field. Were you barefoot?

No, i had a sandal on my feet

Mrudul - It's a rock crab, Menippe rumphii. Fiddlers are found on estuarine mudflats, as opposed to the marine rocky shore here.

Fiddler crabs have got one big claw unlike this one.
