Neelakurinji
Visited Eravikulam National Park last week to photograph the Neelkurinji flowers. It was raining with lot of mist around. Tried a different composition :).
Canon 80D, Canon 100-400mm L IS USM, f5.6, 1/1600, ISO 800, 100mm, hand held, full frame

Nice image of the Neelakurunji flowers, Mrudul. Looks like these are the early blooms and would bloom further as the blues are not so prominent yet. Auspicious flowers the Neelakurunji are, as they find great importance in tamil folklore. Thanks for sharing.

On the surface this is an image of a single flowering neelakurinji bush. However, this single bush with the fog and mountains in the backdrop tells a story. The habitat of the Neelakurinji flowers in high altitudes and the climatic conditions it faces is easily known from this image. Perhaps what is missing is a nilgiri tahr somewhere high in the mountains.
In my previous trip I had sighted Nilgiri Tahrs very close. However, this time the tourism pressure was high and the tahrs were faroff.

Beautiful. Shallow DOF makes the composition very attractive.
