Nature's symphony
The song of Common hawk Cuckoo is the symphony of spring.."brain fever....brain fever". The bird sings that song...most of you have heard..but how they produce a sound!! a song!!! I'll share a note on that in next month..
Photographed in my village in West Bengal.

great shot dada....call of Spring

Nice image of the bird calling. Would have loved to find it perched on a tree, but what you can do. It would usually choose a tall tree. Samrat Bhai,
This bird also calls at dead of the night during winter. I have heard its call during winter nights year after year at Bagnan. Asian Koel will start calling in the early morning with arrival of spring. Common Hawk Cuckoo will continue its call during spring and summer now during early morning and late afternoon. Indian Cuckoo will join with 'bou katha kao' during late spring. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild.

Perhaps this symbolises the treeless world that we are moving into. In most of the colonies I find people cutting off the branches and leaves as they say that the leaves are falling on the ground and making it "dirty". The eye contact is nice. The calling pose brings back many childhood memories. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

@ Sandipan, thanks a lot for the comments.
@Shakti da
Thanks much for sharing your observation..its true that this bird also calls at night. But Indian Cuckoo has become very rare now in Nadia..
The bird was calling from dead papaya tree. Mostly they perch into a dense tree. I was surprised to see him in such a open place.
