Elephant at Corbett NP
Hi
This is an elephant (just after its Musth season ?) in Corbett NP. (you can see the dark rut stain on its cheek). Photo is from my old collection (May 2009), and was taken from a forest van with engine running. The van was about 15 m away from subject (quite close!).:scared:
Fujifilm S2000 HD, 10 MP
Optical Zoom: 15x (Max)
Mode: Anti- shake, no tripod used
Location: Corbett NP, Dhikala

Nice close-up. Wish the tusks were included in full. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to more.

That is most definitely close. It would have been better to include a bit more of the tusks if possible. It is always advisable to shoot with the engine off to get better sharpness. However here I'm sure the driver was just keeping the engine on in case the elephant charged :)
Thanks for sharing.

There are a few drivers who understand animal behaviour and hence are not averse to stop the engine. There wont be time to start the engine and race as elephants can run at a good speed and that too through vegetation.
Some more space all around would have been good. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
