Its a defensive posture. There is lot of myth associated with porcupines, that they send their quills flying when they want to attack etc. Its just a myth and doesn't have any iota of truth.
I would have loved a lower angle. The quills appear like a fan from a distance. In winter, I have seen them coming close to the forest rest house in Corbett as well.
Agree about the angle, also suggest pulling the highlights a bit.

Nicely captured. I too have heard that, its quills are dangerous and can harm its enemy. I had even heard stories that it harms tigers that way.
