flight chilika
Chilika Feb 2012.
This was a tough one to click, as I was using a video head and handle to move the camera, so following the flight was not easy.
Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII TC, ISO 800, f9, 1/2000, OConnor 1030 HDs fluid head with Hi-Hat on a boat.

Lovely details. Sharp. The eye contact is nice. You can see some small particles of grass flying from the leg. Thanks for sharing.

Nice image Sabyasachi. The wing span is lovely. Its quite a feat with such heavy equipment you could photograph that too from a boat. Thanks for sharing.

I forgot to mention that these pintails are susceptible to pesticide poisoning. I am not sure why. However, a few years back, I had seen many pintails dying due to pesticides placed on the lily leaves. The villagers could collect about 10% of the dead birds and sell them to the nearest eateries/dhabas. I was told that now the poaching has come down drastically. Didn't see evidence of such pesticide poisoning this time.
