This year the rules have been relaxed with more localised manipulations allowed. I am surprised that stitched shots have been allowed in Animals in their environment category and creative visions of nature apart from wild places categories.
Last year they increased the minimum file size and allowed only 10 MP and above resolution cameras primarily to make bigger prints. And this year these changes are allowed. So it looks like BBC and Natural History Museum is more interested in the selling prints than photographic merit.
