This is from Satkosia Tiger Reserve, Odisha.
I saw a large number of skimmers. This is a record image. They were so many, it was really tough to get an image which I can really be pleased with. This was in Jan 2013. f6.3, ISO 640, 800mm, full frame image.
Nice pic sir. Some of them seem to be flying close to the waters.did you get any images where they are skimming.

No Roopak. Did get to see the skimming behaviour. The light was already harsh. We could see them close. They were first on the sand bar and then flew couple of times as there are fishermen and some villagers came later to cross the river.
I had never photographed skimmers before. So it was actually nice to see them.
Beautiful composition in various shades of grey.Even though the light is low the birds are softly detailed even down to their orange beaks.Nice capture of birds in flight!
