The bloom of the parched
ID: Water willow(justicia)
While traversing the trail, which almost had started drying up with the incoming dry winters, the whole terrain had already started shifting to the warmer tones with loads of dried and fallen leaves lying on the ground. But out of nowhere, right in the middle of the trail carved thru by the movement of humans and animals, this particular bloom stood tall, bringing in the necessary vibrancy and life to the drying terrain. The Justicia family seems to have a huge variety of sub species, one of them is also known as Karambal(Marathi) or Pitpapada(Hindi), seems to carry some medicinal values too, but in nature these play a major role as a host plant for a variety of butterflies

The violet petals jutting out of the green stalk looks nice. I feel a slight less space at the top would have enhanced the composition further. Good details. Thanks for sharing the detailed information.

I think a tighter composition would have been better. The black at the bottom takes away our attention from the flower. Generally I talk about higher depth of field, however, in this case the background would have appeared cluttered with f8/f9. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
