I wholeheartedly agree with Harshad and Mital and the points they put out in the critique, technically and aesthetically.

Not sure what you guys are ranting about. I like this image through and through. Mirchaini is my favorite tiger family, that unique crop and the moment captured trumps it all.
I guess, beauty lies...
The 2nd version has blown the whites and colors are whitewashed (to my eyes).
Here's my version. Just increased the "black levels" a tad bit and selective sharpened the body. Automatically adds...
Indeed, a very lovely portrait. But the frame is too tight for me...You could have gone down by 50 mm , to 300....maybe. But, I love the colors, the light.
Ah, the living legend ! In my recent trip, I only got a "hind shot" of the King walking in the Chakradhara grasslands (my only sighting) ...walking into the sunset, but what an image it made.....
Lovely image, tiger in the grass ! He is definitely a very handsome cub to photograph. Where was he the past 2 weeks ??
Thanks, all for the comments.
Mrudul, definitely, waiting did pay off in this case cos Harshad and I were the only two guys out there while all the other gypsies were photographing her in her cave/...
I read this thread today and cannot help but add to what has been mentioned here.
I recently came back from there. Noticed the hut like structure present. Just heard from Harshad that it
has...
Beauty, one of the best of this species that I have seen. You exposed the eyes so well. It's tough for this species, a little less tougher than the Hanuman Langurs whose skulls/eye sockets are shaped...
Beauty, deadly stare from the woods. When was this taken, Kiran ?
The Mirchaini cubs deserted me in this trip. I only got glimpses of them this time. The friendly guy (kallu?ballu?) was spotted...
Came back yesterday from a hectic 2 week trip to a couple of forests in India. It was extremely hot with temperatures reaching 110+ degree F during the day. This specific image was made at the...
Harshad,
If this is the same guy who gave us those very dynamic images while chasing the deer looking for fawns...then you should not be posting this static image :-).
Lovely, nonetheless.
Being present there personally while you were photographing this animal with all the due diligence, I have to salute you, hats off ! The photo came out excellent !!
With our 600mm reach, we (my...
Harshad,
If this is full frame, not sure if anything would have fixed this image. I agree with others about the crop/composition. Maybe a wide angle lens would have been really better for this one. ...
Lovely image, great forest feel and mood captured here. I do feel like I am present there watching the beast.
As for Bisons, I have fallen in love with this species after my recent trip to Kanha....
Kiran,
The push-pull of the 100-400 was one of the factors that drove me away from that lens.
Anyhow, the image is sharp, nice moment captured. I, personally, don't like the crop of this image....
Sabyasachi,
A beautiful moment witnessed and captured in tough conditions.
I have noticed that you always have the 2x on your 400. Would it have been any better with AF at 2.8 ? Am sure your lens...
Lovely timing here. I always laugh hard looking at this image (the expression)....crazy teeth...yikes !!! :-)
I am no expert by any means...but I do like to give my sincere opinions. I was never known to be a shy person. My views...sometimes are hard to digest, they do get me in trouble:D...get ready for the...
Great shot, Kiran. I like it the way it is. Agree with Sabyasachi about the sharpening effect.
Otherwise, just a fine image. ISO 800 and above on the 50D is bad...but 400, 640 should be doable. I...
I guess everybody's running out of ideas....

Sabyasachi, it's an inside joke...Harshad knows what I mean. :-).
Kiran, thx.
Since we are brothers:p, I took the liberty to post another version, see if you like it.
Changes:
Removed the blueish cast... increased color temperature
Increased contrast, blacks
USM on...
Both are great. This one works better because it appears as if he's staring at his own reflection or about to jump in...
Interesting composition and angle, you've given him a lot of space to walk into, which is great. Great image, very realistic colors.
A slight boost of blacks might add more punch (?).
