    Default Forest Calotes

Calotes rouxi. EOS 40D 500f4 + 1.4x converter, Gitzo + Wimberley II. I photographed this courting calotes just outside my house. He was extremely co-operative and I was able to photograph his over a period of two days.

This image is heavily cropped but I cropped for composition and I think this shows the enormous power of digital imagery and the power of megapixels.

Thanks for looking, comments and critique welcome.

Brilliant detail, good composition. Curious to know what distance you shot it from.

    Hi Apana,

Lovely composition.Liked the colours and the sharpness. The details are nice. The BG is completely black, how did you achieve that?

Love the details in this image. Even after cropping heavily, you have the details and sharpness.

Abhishek - the distance was the minimum focussing distance of about 10 - 12 feet.

Mrudul and Murugan - He was sunning himself on the window sill of a half-constructed house, the BG is the inside of the house. Alternatively, flash in such circumstances will provide a black BG.
