Default Big male breaks cover after calling for female in Kanha national park

We heard the male and the female calling from opposite sides of the track for quite some time. This was in a large grassland / maidan in Kanha where our driver had taken us to track a leopard that had been sighted. All of a sudden the big male broke cover and strode out along an open area next to the dense forest. You can see he had been lying in a pool by the mud on his rear. Shortly, the tigress also came out on the other side of the maidan. Will post her photos also soon.

    Shot at 300mm, with the Nikon D90 and Nikkor 70-300mm at ISO 200, 1/400s - F/9, -0.7EV

Nice environmental photograph. The composition looks fine. When was this photographed? Is this after the jungles reopened? Thanks for sharing.

Not sure but it looks like the Kanha meadows that you are talking about when mentioning maidan. I remember spotting a leopard near the meadows when I had visited a few years back. Seems it was quite far off. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sakti da, did not see any blackbucks there, though the local guide had told us some are there.
Thanks for the correction, it was indeed the meadows and not the maidan
