    Default Nightjar

This was photographed at night in the light of our gypsy. It was quite co-operative and gave us some time to get down from the gypsy and photograph. I tried different ISO and apertures. This one is at f10 to get more details.

Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 100-400mm L IS USM + 1.4x, ISO 1600, f10, 1/25, hand held, full frame, lying on the ground.

    Comments and critiques welcome.

If one is careful and slow, then close approach is easy. The eye contact is nice. The body is parallel to the sensor frame, so the depth of field is adequate. The sharpness is fine despite the low shutter speed.

Nice image of Indian Nightjar. During day it remains concealed and silent, in the night repetitive 'chuk-chuk-chuk'. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

I have heard this from a few people I know, once you spot a nightjar then they dont run away that easily. They give ample time to photograph. Also, was it spotted by the call she was making? Nice eye contact. Thanks for sharing.
