    About the Shot:

When I started bird photography few months back, I was very restless going behind every bird that I usually spot. But of late I understood that working with a subject is very important. Now I spend as much time as possible with a co-operative bird and make it feel comfortable with my presence. This way I get more moments to cherish than before and also don't disturb the bird in its routine.

I positioned myself near the water and went down as much as needed to get that eye level shot. It started fishing and wandering around that place for quite a long time. Approaching a bird (ethically) is something that I feel is very important and as a result I got some good flight and static shots of this wonderful bird.

Experts comments/ suggestions are highly appreciated.

    Heartiest welcome Poorna Bhai.
Lovely image. Nice composition and wingspread. I am fascinated by the long black occipital crest so well documented.

Lovely first post. The wing spread is nice. Good eye contact. You could have placed it a bit more to the left (an off-centered composition) with more space on the right to have more space in the direction it is looking. Thanks for sharing.

P.S - Saktipadaji has been posting the works of M.Krishnan, you can check all the posts at the following link -

    Poorna,
Nice to see this beautiful bird. The wingspread shows us the primary and secondaries well. Slight turn would have enhanced the eye contact. When you get the exposure right in the field, the noise becomes less. Look forward to more. Thanks for sharing.

    Shaktipadaji,
Thanks for reminding us about M. Krishnan. It is a coincidence, that just half an hour back, I was checking if I can immerse my OConnor fluid head in water. M. Krishnan is an inspiration.
    Cheers,

Nice image poorna. nice pose and timing. Good details on the wings. it is tough to get the focus on the head for this bird esp when in flight, may be you cud have bumped up the ISO and gone for a narrower apperture .
