    Default Elephants at Kaziranga

Saw this big herd of elephants crossing the water body in Kaziranga Eastern zone and coming towards us. It was very interesting to see them swim. Try to create a environmental composition to show the habitat.

Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 100-400mm lens, ISO 400, f8, 1/640, full frame.

    Comments and critiques welcome..

Nice composition with habitat. The lower part of the virtually unsinkable body is still wet. Young calves are well protected. The bull may be somewhere nearby keeping watch on the herd, no intrusion by another bull is allowed without winning the battle.
You were late by one month, early monsoon clouds arrive both in Manas and Kaziranga by the first week of April. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

Though no pandemonium ensued, calves appears to follow and nestle under the mothers to have the sense of security. Grass on foreground with bluish green water of waterhole, lush lemon green bush with monsoon sky in background. Serene incongruity with calmness oozing out of the composition.

Lovely image. The overall family with the water marked bodies has come out well. The colours are nice. I missed this one as at that moment, I was focused on the wild buffalo calf suckling. They were moving slowly. However, a vehicle just reached the scene and one noisy vehicle arrived. They overtook us and tried to move close. The elephants got disturbed and ran ahead and crossed the road.

Kaziranga has got its own charm. Need to spend some more quality time there after it reopens.

    Cheers,
