Lantern Fly
The first time I saw this creature, I was shocked. It was completely beyond imagination. It's not very common but in the right places, not uncommon either!
Would love to see more images of other species of lantern flies from India.

What a beauty. Please mention where it was seen, i.e., what habitat. Remember this being there in a book called "my book of insects" that I had when I was a kid!
