This is a difficult situation as the bird is in dense vegetation. The eye contact is fine. However, in this light and shadow, the stalk is brightly lit due to the sunlight and the eye is in shade and slightly hidden. So the attention goes towards the feet instead of the head. Thanks for sharing.

You got it well through the slight clearing. Good eye contact. I agree about the light, tough conditions to photograph. An off-centered composition would be good. Thanks for sharing.
