Tusker--A Display of Macho Mightiness

We beat a speedy retreat to the Tuskers purposeful advance,when suddenly to our fright he turned right, midstride and braced his tusks against a tree in what appeared to be a very male display of strength.Probably a warning not to underestimate him in anyway.There did not seem to be anything wrong with his left tusk from what I could make out.Canon60D+100-400 FL100mm F/8 1/125s ISO500.Corbett late morning April2014.

Redirected aggression. Often after moving away from a mock charge they do this and they gain some amount of confidence as well through this. Other acts of redirected aggression is kicking up dust and throwing on their body.

The contours of the skin, the light swabs and the blotches of wet and dry skin throw up an amazing kaleidoscope of patterns on the mighty tusker.
