    Default Yellow-billed Blue Magpie

Clicked during a morning walk in Nagni village, Tirthan Valley. The light was dappled and I didn't really have hopes for an action-freezing image, but I suppose the experimental 2.8 Av helped.

Canon 500D, Canon 100mm macro USM
    SS 1/800
    Av 2.8
    ISO 400
    EC -1
    Moderate crop for composition

    Thanks, C&C welcome.

Beautiful - a couple of seconds later you would have got the bird in full. nice DOF even at 2.8.

The wingspan is nice. The lighting at that spot was nice for the wings to glow. Together with the two brights spots in the foliage, the wings form an imaginary triangle and helps in the composition. Though as a photographer you don't have control over it, some light in the right bottom corner would have been great. This image shows that the bird is just taking off. Overall I like this image. Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks all.
Yes, I would have liked to get the tail clearly visible too. Have to live with 3fps at the moment .
