Lightbulb Need Guide Book suggestions on Trees/Flowers/Grass:

    Dear Friends,

I'm looking for Guide Books on Indian Trees, Wild Flowers & Grass. Currently I'm having two books with me...but want to add new books in my collection as these are not complete guide books.

    1) The Book of Indian Trees (BNHS)
    2) Some Beautiful Climbers & Shrubs (BNHS)

Can you suggest other good guide books or group of books that covering all the species of Indian Trees, Flowers & Grass? It will be very useful during the fieldwork studies .

Your kind help & suggestions be much appreciated .

    All best wishes,

    Sincerely,
    Rahul Parekh

    Rahul,
Recently there is a book by Pradip Krishen titled Jungle Trees of central India. However, I have neither read nor reviewed this book. The number of Indian flora species is so high that forget about any book, documentation of all the species doesn't exist. So one needs to go by these general books.
    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

Pradeep Kishen's book. Is excellent, but covers only central Indian trees. Shrubs, vines, grasses etc are not included. I guess there is scope for more books in this space.

The number of flora species in India is massive. No single book can cover it. I trying to introduce in the IndiaWilds monthly Newsletter a column on trees and plants by an expert. It is likely to start in the May issue of IndiaWilds Newsletter.
