    Default Kumbara Night Frog

Call of two male Nyctibatrachus kumbara. Most calling males were found on the ground, often partly hidden by grass, close to streams.

A longer clip to show the interval between successive calls.

Nice recording. The 'cluck' sound is quite clear even with the water sound in the background. So they were both males, any reason males stay close to each other? Thanks for sharing.

Good to hear the call of this species. What about the females? Do they respond to the call?

Sabyasachi- Females do not appear to respond vocally. They approach calling males and the pair begins a complex mating procedure; this is detailed in the article I had shared, and also in the original publication (http://www.atree.org/sites/default/f...og_zootaxa.pdf)

Mrudul- I don't have an answer to that question ... Maybe it is an indication of the size of the individuals' territories.
