    Default Great Rosefinch

When I and my cousin brother reached the base camp of Mt Everest [ alt 5365m ], before we could stare at anything this individual came in front of us from nowhere!! It was not camera shy and so bold that came very near to me. I left my telephoto lens back at Gorakshep to shed some of my loads. This guy compensated that mistake by coming so near to me that I clicked this particular shot with my 15-85 lens. But the angle was poor because I feared if I bent down it could flew away.

Nice you could get it so close. It seems it is used to human presence. Agree a lower angle would have enhanced the composition. Maybe after clicking a few images, you could have tried sitting down, if it stayed you could have got some images with lower angle. Look forward to more from the Himalayas. Thanks for sharing.

Nice picture. Rose finches in this part of the world are not shy of humans. When I visited Kedarnath in May saw quite a few of these finches. They came pretty close to humans and seemed quite fearless.

To me it was total surprise to see him after reaching the base camp . We were above treeline for last few days [> 4000m] and the area was obviously devoid of any plants/shrubs etc. Sustaining life must be difficult !
