Default The Face on the Wall

With the thick bushy unibrow and the tuft of hair on his lip, he looked like Chaplin without his hat. He slowly emerged from the fog taking care not to scare the birds away. The water was cold and effervesced as the golden rays of the sun kissed his lips with a Midas touch; lo gold! He was shy but every once in a while he would come out of hiding and take a few deep breaths in the sun and again as mysteriously as he appeared, he would fade away.

There appears to be some kind of patch at the middle of the frame.

Clearly the flock of birds flying above were at a distance from the dabchicks (?). f4 is the widest aperture and hence the least amount of depth of field. So at f4 the flying flock of birds are not covered by the depth of field.
