    Default Peregrine Falcon

Photographed this raptor in Sunderbans last week. It was a sudden sighting from the launch and I got only a few seconds to aim and shoot. Saktipadaji who had joined Sabyasachi and me in the trip was very excited to sight this favourite raptor of M.Krishnan .

Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 100-400 mm IS USM, f7.1, 1/1250, ISO 400, hand held, 12% crop for composition.

    Comments and critiques welcome.

Rare and nice image of one of the most celebrated Falcons from the Sundarbans. The dark eyes, black moustachial stripe, barred breast have come out so well.
M.Krishnan has given the title - 'Terror from the skies' while writing about this raptor. A stooping Peregrine may reach a speed of 110 to 180 miles per hour.
Madam Mrudule had to act at brisk pace as the sailing motor boat crossed the tree as and when the bird could be spotted. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

I had great difficulty in locating this species from the boat. By the time I could sight, the boat had moved and it was behind the bush. So good that you could click it. Hope to one day sight this majestic predator in action, close by.
