    Default Kestrel Female

A common species but one of my favourite raptors, the Kestrel.
This is a female that I found in the outskirts of Bangalore. They are commonly seen in grasslands and are a winter migrant in the South. I liked this particular image because of the green leaves in the background unlike the termite mounds or thorny shrubs in grasslands where they are more commonly seen.

    Canon EOS 7D, 420mm

    SS 1/400 (-0.3)
    ISO 400

Full frame image. Comments and critiques welcome.

The soft light and the greening background looks nice. Good pose and eye contact. Was it clicked early morning? Thanks for sharing.

Outskirts? Hessarghatta? A narrow aperture would have been even better. Thanks for sharing.
