    Default Jungle Cat - Sunderbans

This was photographed during the recent trip to Sunderbans. It was early morning and the fog had just lifted. It was basking in the morning sun. We tried to move the launch closer, but it immediately vanished into the bushes.

Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 100-400mm L IS USM, f6.3, 1/1000, ISO 400, hand held, full frame.

    Comments and critiques welcome..

Super..the typical pose. The streaks on the upper legs are quite dark and clear. Is the black thing on the paws the tail? waiting for more from sunderbans...

Thanks Roopak for the comment. I checked the image, yes it is the tail tip between the legs.

Uncommon composition highlighting the atypical habitat. Wonder what she is guarding or thinking looking into camera. It is not easy to get an image of a jungle cat in a thick forest in daylight. Thanks for sharing

Nice image. The composition is descriptive of the jungle where the elusive small and powerful cat has been photographed. In Sundarbans, Jungle Cat has to swim a lot - sometime even it has to cross rivers. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

This is a nice environmental composition showing the habitat well. Since we remain on the motor boats, it would not be possible to sight. However, this individual was sunning itself. So we could sight from a distance. My wish list of sighting animals swimming in the Sundarban waters is growing.

Nice. I like the habitat portrayed in this. A bit narrower aperture would have ensured the roots on the right be in focus as well.
    Thanks for sharing.

A typical pose of a cat . Innocent look but a ferocious predator. Lovely image of a Sunderban habitant. TFS
