    Canon 5DM3; F 6.5; iso 800; 150-600 f4.5-6.5

    Shot at Sholinganallur, near Chennai.

    Is the bird trying to clean its membrane?? I do not have a technical terminology - can you enlighten?

    It is called Gular Pouch... as said by Debasis sab pelicans are seen doing this to stretch the Gular pouch and keep it flexible. Pelican do many such exercises to ensure the pouch is kept flexible and clean.
