Default The famous Maya of Tadoba

Maya is one of the most photographed tigress of Tadoba. Almost every visit to Tadoba guarantees her sighting. I don't think there would have been a case when she was spotted and there weren't many jeeps around. In this case too there were many jeeps but we were quite far from her. She could still spot us but then ignored and continued stalking the chitals a bit ahead. We moved further to a lesser crowded place a few hundred meters ahead where she came after a while to give us the chance to make this image.

    Nikon D7k, f/7.1, SS 1/1600, ISO 2500, ec +.3, 420mm (Nikon 300mm f4+1.4x TC). Cropped a bit.

She is so nicely camouflaged in the tall grass. Wish the light had been better. This was photographed this year? Thanks for sharing.

The scene looks lovely with the grass illuminated by the sidelighting. Looks like the tigress was defecating. When it starts its round, they defecate, spray scent, sharpen claws etc all of which contributes to the territory marking routine. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
