    Default Humpback Dolphin Sounds

Whistles and clicks produced by a group of humpback dolphins Sousa sp.
(Earphones recommended; the sounds may be too high-pitched to be audible on speakers)

This is a short clip from several minutes of audio extracted from video files shot on a GoPro Hero 4. This is from a group of 3 dolphins that were foraging from a fishing net. The frequency of the clicks far exceeds what the GoPro can record, so what you hear is only a part of the click range. Clicks are used to echolocate, while whistles are generally used to communicate. Some dolphins are even known to have 'signature whistles', like names for each individual.

The reliance of these animals on sound makes them vulnerable to man-made noise in their environment.
