Nice picture through the trees. Looks like the light was low. The whites are a little blown but can be recovered in PP. Nice details on the elephant and lovely eye contact.

    Thanks for sharing

    Prashobh,
    Welcome to IndiaWilds!

It is good that you got the head in the clear. The shutter speed seems to be on the lower side. Was it evening/cloudy? The saturation is on the higher side. Despite what you hear in image sharing sites, it is very important to retain the natural colours. Too often images are ruined by higher saturation and contrasts.

Was it pushing the small tree or rubbing his cheek? You need to lower the contrast, lift up the shadows a bit. Were you on trek? At what mm was it click? Handheld? How much is the crop? How did you edit? Once we know all details we can then suggest.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

Thank you Sir for the critics.
The picture was taken at 3.25pm in a cloudy condition, brighter colour is due to vivid mode and a slight colour boost in Photoscape.
The animal was rubbing its cheek. I was on a trek and did the shoot handheld.
The picture was taken in 600mm and is a cropped image. I have used Photoscape to post edit the image.

    Regards
    Prashobh

Nice to see this big tusker. getting good eye contact in an elephant image makes it special. Agree the image looks high on contrast. This guy is often sighted around kumuzhy area and makes his presence felt whenever he is around. A week back he was giving a tough time to the tribals who were trying to drive him away from an abandoned field with no effect whatsover. Hope to see him soon...
