    Default Immature Egyptian Vulture

Canon EOS 1D Mark II, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF2xII, ISO 400, f8, 1/500, full frame image.

They are also known as Pharaoh's Chicken. Scientific name: Neophron percnopterus

Salim Ali 12th edition mentions that they are not found in Srilanka and NE India. However, at one place it mentions that stragglers are found in Srilanka. Any ideas whether they are found in Srilanka?

Look forward to your comments and critiques.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

Lovely angle... And tack sharp... Had you gone lower you would have overshot the tree line in the bg and the head would not have been this distinct... Lovely composition... I like the small shrub in the front. Wish the oof shrub on the left wasnt there, but it isn not distracting. More from this series???

    Fantastic shot, lovely compo.
Krys Kazmierczak also mentions only isolated records in Sri Lanka... Many of the distribution maps on the net don't mark SL as part of the range.

P.S. One more name for this species is "scavenger vulture", this name is used for the bird only in Asia.
