Default Emergence.. Painted Grasshopper & its Molt

    Hello Friends,

This one again from Yeoor, one of my favorite places in Monsoon. Quite a large size ( about 2.5 inched) Painted Grasshopper near it's Molt. Patterns on molt are different than on the grass-hopper. Looks like it changes shades upon maturity. Witnessed pair with different shades during Nagla visit.

Would love to hear from experts.

EXIF : Canon550D with Tamron 90mm Macro VC, Tv : 1/80, Av: f/18, ISO3200 (Auto), Full Frame, Processed in LR 5.7. Radial Filter applied on subject. No Flash

Hope you like it & enjoy it.

    Regards/Anil Kumar Verma

Lovely...Interesting to see the matured one and its stark contrast-y molt

Did you see it moulting? I'm not familiar enough with these to know about the pattern differences. Google might help.
Brilliantly executed shot. ISO 3200 has helped here for sure, but the noise seems low for a 550D. I don't see much post-processing detail loss either. Nicely done. Maybe experiment with the highlights a little - the highlights on the leaves are slightly distracting to me. Really appreciate the attempt to shoot this scene without flash.
Any more angles? Any images with different settings?

Thanks Prajwal & Abhishek. Shall see if I have any more presentable shots with different settings.

Rare sighting. Good you could get both of them in a single frame. I think a vertical composition would also worked well here. Good details. Thanks for sharing.

Great to see this. Some how I had missed this image before. Wish the grasshopper was a bit closer as it is not covered by the depth of field. Hope you will someday see a grasshopper just emerging out of its molt. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
