RTR Diary June-16 Spotted Owl

An accidental captured , we saw this Owl sitting inside the hole in tree.
The moment I focussed and pressed the shutter ; same moment he decided to fly off.
Canon EOS 7D M II , Canon 500mm F/4 L IS USM , 1/1600 , -0.3 , f/8 , Handheld.

Lovely flight pose. As it just flew off, it seems the AF point is locked on the tree. Liked the bole and the textures on the tree bark. Getting the owl in focus would have been amazing, but its good you could capture this moment. Thanks for sharing.

There is always a split second delay as we humans can't fire at the exact micro second the bird takes off. And the camera also needs time to focus. So prefocusing slightly ahead of the tree always helps while clicking a bird taking off. The f8 aperture here has helped a bit. Thanks for sharing.
