My first encounter with this crab species occur when I suddenly found an inanimate butterfly on Lantana camara. I got close and touch the butterfly and received no response. Perhaps it was a Common Emigrant. I caught the wings and made a soft pull when I noticed it was sticking to the flower as if someone made a glue trap. Suddenly I noticed that there was something wrong and found the crab. This incident was of some years back and I have no pictorial evidence of that. But I experienced such wonderful crab- making great camouflage, particularly, under a flower with an addition of having the ability to change their colors too.
The flower species, Lantana camara, a major invasive alien plant, attracts a huge number of butterfly species to suck the nectar and, therefore, is a heaven of such predators.
