    Madam Shyamala,
    Its nice of you.
I have a small query. Have you seen any other calf in the herd, though not in the picture ?
Thanks for sharing all the images of these beautiful animals which bring joy to our day to day life.
    Kind regards,
    SaktiWild

Elephant calf can suckle from other females in the group as well. The allo-mothers can suckle others calves when they have no calf of their own and the time of suckling from other females can be as much as the mother. Often the calf and these other females are related and can probably be elder sisters. These kind of suckling from other mothers also leads to greater cohesion in the groups.

Of course what you say is a possibility but all the time that I was clicking the little calf was entwining itself in and around the legs of this particular female.

Nice moment captured but it seems like it is blurred as it is not clear, isn't it?

This image was posted only to clarify as to which female elephant is the calf's mother.I was shooting from a motor boat which was rocking considerably. Many images were therefore not very clear.
