    Default Hog Deer

From my archives. Taken in Karizanga a few year back. It was a very brief sighting when it came out in the clearing and seeing our gypsy immediately turned back to go into the dense forest.

Canon 1D Mark IV, f8, Canon 100-400 mm IS USM lens, 1/13, ISO 400, 250mm, hand held, full frame.

Nice image. Their eyes are placed deep in the skull compared to those of Spotted Deer, difficult to observe rolling of the eyes. Is it because they live in Himayan foothills dense jungles ! Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

I remember this one was a quick sighting. I had a long lens mounted and missed it. This actually shows how a 100-400 can be a good bet for quick run-n-gun safari shooting.

I have never seen one in the wild yet.Hope to see one soon!Nice bit of observation from Saktiji,as usual! The eyes seem placed well inside the skull unlike the spotted deer.Nice image.
