Default Reaching high for some sweet leaves!....Sariska!

This is the same Sambar stag which crossed the frame while I was shooting the Jackals. As pointed out by Saktiji earlier the Sambars of Sariska seems to be bigger than anywhere else seen in India.

Nice behavior captured. Wish you were a bit more to the left to get it more parallel to the sensor. There seems to be some loss of details. I think a wider aperture like f7.1 or f8 would have sufficed here, so the ISO calculated would have also reduced. The vertical framing looks good. Thanks for sharing.

Impressive size. Long antlers and notably good brow tines. Nice capture. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

Sambar is largest Asiatic deer. I have also seen large specimen in Hazaribag long back.

The stag seems to me to be what we call in Australia "preaching" IE depositing scent from the waxy secretions from his preorbital glands or sniffing the secretions deposited by other previous visitors to the tree.
The area underneath the tree appears to have a 'scrape' also.( the lighter oval area. That is another clue along with the inclined tree limb, all pointers to 'preaching'

    A great capture!

Interesting behaviour. I have also seen them pulling out bark of trees during summer. Normally we think tree bark is pulled by Elephant. However, Sambar also does it. We normally don't give enough attention to Sambar. However with its large antlers, the Sambar is one impressive animal.

I too have seen evidence of Sambar 'stripping" green Wattle bark from trees.
