Default A resting space, high above the all

    ID: Indian Peafowl

Situated in the depth of the valley, my granny's place/native place is a gem of a place for the nature lovers. One such example, with the pleasant season, was the presence of the peafowl family, a male, female and probably a juvenile, which would roam around freely in the green filled backyard. With rarely any form of intrusion, they seem to enjoy the vast openness of the location and the abundance of food. One afternoon I could hear the call of the male, very close to the house, but couldnt spot them, after a long time of locating the call, eventually spotted these beauties resting on the higher branches of the tree, just behind the house, probably a place to rest for the afternoon leisure, may be to keep off the drizzle. Though the female seemed perched lower in the tree, they realized about my presence and decided to get deeper into the woods, almost vanishing off into the forest.

Nice sighting. Seems the female was more shy . Even with it being such high up in the canopy, you have got it nicely. In some parts around Bharatpur also you can sight peacocks in the fields or on houses. Nice eye contact. Thanks for sharing.

Nice scene. Good to know that peacocks roam around in your village. In most of the places we don't see them these days. In my village in Odisha, they have cleared up the vegetation and I don't see them anymore.

You needed a bit more exposure to get the bird bright. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
