Default The monster with the penta-eye

    ID: Owlfly larva

One of the beautiful specimen that my colleague spotted during the trail, this devil-ish beauty seemed to have placed itself onto the centre of the leaf, unsure about the reason for being at that spot, and seemed to be frozen and hardly moved. The surprising bit about this intriguing specimen was the absence of, atleast visually, its massive and dominant mandibles, which seemed to be tucked under its body, again unsure of such behaviour.

    EXIF:
    Canon 80D
    Canon 100mm macro + Raynox
    F/18
    Shutterspeed 1/160
    ISO 320
    Handheld, External flash fired

Nice. Does it have 3 sets of eyes (?)? What are mandibles? You could have used a higher ISO to give a more comfortable shutter speed. Thanks for sharing.
