    Default Mudskipper Portrait

Tried this unconventional composition with a mudskipper, during a work visit to Wandoor (Andamans) in March 2018.

Mudskippers are fish, but their eyes are greatly modified for use outside water. They are raised to enable a better field of view, and are constantly rolled into the pouches below them to maintain moisture.

Canon 760D, Canon 100mm Macro USM (still my favourite lens, even after using many others )
    SS 1/320
    Av 10
    ISO 400
    No flash
    Minor crop

My intention with the shallow depth of field was to draw attention mainly to the eyes. I did not necessarily want the snout in focus, but also did not want to sacrifice too much DoF to not cover the eyes. Looking forward to your critique.

Nice to see the large, bulging eyes so closely. They resemble the eyes of frogs a lot. Good details in the eyes. The sand and the florescent colours create quite a combination. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing the information. Look forward to more.
