Nice to see this from Satkosia. I had shot these several years ago in the river bed. This is a bit against the light, so the body has come out dark. Did you click this while boating or from the river bank? While boating if your boat passes by then these birds take off enmasse and then fly around the boat and again settle in the river bed some distance away. That can give an opportunity to click in favourable light.

It is tough to get clean borders while clicking these large flock of skimmers. Is this a cropped image and how much of a crop is this? Do you have a wider version showing a much bigger flock of birds? While using the zoom we often forget that at times a wide angle shot is also required to show the scale. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

    Dear Sabyasachi,

Thank you very much for the comment. Satkosia has become my favorite spot for photographing the wild. This shot was taken from the boat. This is not a cropped image. This is the original one. Do you think I need to crop a bit on the left side of the frame?

You are correct, sometimes wide angle shots are also important in wildlife photography to show the environment and its natural habitat.

Nice image of the skimmers, Sudarsan. In an image like this its difficult to choose where to cut corners as its difficult for the crop to be logical since there are a lot of birds in the picture. It makes more sense to choose a point in the image where cropping enhances the image by making it look fuller. Cropping from the left would be logical but quite tricky as well, thanks for sharing.

    Welcome to IndiaWilds..!!

Liked the way their beaks are highlighted against the light. Its a bit tricky to photograph from the boat. You have done well in the given conditions. Look forward to more. Thanks for sharing.

    Dear Mrudul Godbole,

Yes, It was indeed tough to capture them, since, from the boat, I was not able to frame it, But in the end, I was happy to see it came well...

    Thanks for your feedback...
