    Default The morning's big catch

ID: Spitting spider with mantis catch

Came across this beautiful and vibrant predator perched on the tip of the leaf, almost frozen like dead. But on close observation realized that the predator had a massive and juicy catch, making it still and immersed in enjoying the breakfast. It seemed hardly bothered with our presence and us framing it, one after the other. Rather it was surprising to see how fast the spidey dissolved the abdomen section and consumed the whole mass.

Good details on the spider. One can see the web in which the mantis got tangled. The vertical framing works well here. The big round brown lined structure (near the right frame) is part of the spider? It looks different from the main body. Thanks for sharing.

Nice catch. Did you click from any other angle? A top view? The flash creates a harsh highlight. Else this works fine. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

Have a frontal view of the same, shall share in the coming days.
Regarding the Flash's highlight issue, I am trying to explore ways to get better diffusion, hope to achieve better diffusion in the coming days, hopefully this monsoon session
