    Default A hefty breakfast

ID: Crab spider with cockroach catch

Stumbled upon this strange sight of a crab spider, perched underneath the leaf, atleast 7-8 inches off the ground, with a mighty cockroach catch. Usually have seen these roaches underneath the dry or weathered leaves on the ground, not sure if this unlucky est had climbed up the plant for some reason. Though the grip of the crab is commendable as it was hanging on with the huge catch, upside down, and still feasting on it.

Of course their body structures are such that they are not as dense as we human beings are. Nevertheless, holding such a large prey in such a fashion while being perched underside a leaf and eating it, is really commendable. How much of a crop is this and from which side? Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

The image depicts the strength and agility of the crab spider nicely. I think, they believe no time should be wasted when they get hold of a prey. Good observation. Thanks for sharing.
