    Default The shadow master

    ID: Mantis

Stumbled upon this massive mantis, second biggest sighting in my life, perched on the tip of the small shrub. The massive beauty seemed a bit concerned initially, but later turned curious towards us and the camera. Seen here looking directly at the lens and almost bowing down as I set myself low into the ground to get the interesting background.

    EXIF:
    Canon 80D
    Canon 100mm macro
    F/11
    Shutterspeed 1/125

Good to see you are trying different compositions. Inclusion of the shadow adds to the composition. Just thinking, if a vertical composition would have helped to get more focus on the mantis and its shadow. Maybe you can try and see . Thanks for sharing.
