This sambar deer was having a time of its life in a small puddle near a lake at Tadoba. The wallowing continued for about 10 minutes and then it came off the mud pool.

Superb behavioural image. Sambar lie and roll around in water in order to keep cool and may be for pleasure, and also before rubbing the velvet off antlers.
Our great teacher has observed:
- " Wallowng, associated in deer with the breeding season, seems to be indulged in at all times in Sambar and to have no special sexual connotation."

I have seen sambar's wallow all the time and in all seasons like buffalos. A higher shutter speed in this case would have helped freeze the subject movement. Thanks for sharing.
