    Default The nasty cherry pops

ID: Gonocerini[A family of true bugs(correct if wrong)]

Spotted this rare beauty, rather the rarity was the high amount of mites, huge and plumpy ones, that seemed to be feeding on the poor chap. This particular plant seemed to have high amount of bugs all around, but this particular one stood out, as well as was easier to frame, probably, due to the mites.

    EXIF:
    Canon 80D
    Canon 100mm macro + Raynox
    F/13
    Shutterspeed 1/160
    ISO 400
    Handheld, External flash fired

I agree it would have been difficult to spot as it is quite nicely camouflaged with the branch, the mites make it stand out. Was it not trying to drive them off? It might be injured . Good details. Thanks for sharing.

Since the time we have increased the size of images posted here, the details appear better. However, it also shows how less the depth of field is in such close lens to subject situations in macro photography. Even more narrow aperture would be better. However, one needs to be aware about the shake. I wish I was able to spot such things while shooting for my documentary Jewels of Thane Creek. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
