    Default A rare vagrant to India - Smew

    The Smew (Mergellus albellus) i is the only living member of the genus Mergellus. This species breeds in the northern taiga of Europe and Asia. This bird is very rare winter visitor in India. Since 3 years the female Smew is made its winter ground in the Teesta Barrage, Gajoldoda, West Bengal. The photograph was clicked in 24 Feb, 2020.

    Rare sighting of this cute species. The low angle looks great. Lovely eye contact. Did you photograph from a boat? Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.
